Employment
We are always interested in talking to talented, highly motivated people looking for a uniquely challenging and flexible work environment. If you have any preliminary questions about a position, feel free to email us with them prior to investing your time in filling out this Questionnaire. Your job application must include your resume and our Questionnaire. (Yes, everyone has to fill one out!). Good luck in your job search!

The Company
Started in 1999, SurfMerchants is a web development company that thrived during the dot-bomb era by maintaining a fierce focus on sound business principles and patient, steady growth. We have been profitable every quarter of our existence and have no debt or venture capital on our backs.
We're very proud of our 96% employee retention rate and of the fact that we've never laid off an employee. We're also proud to be the kind of meritocracy that allows winners to thrive in our company regardless of their age, gender, title or experience.
Our Work Environment
We split our work hours 50/50 between our Boston Common offices and our homes. Scientific research shows that employee productivity jumps 20% when said employees are clad in pajamas (OK, that's not true — we'd rather people be online working than rotting slowly away on the subway or in traffic jams).
We do not hire the uptight, the intolerant, or the un-funny because life is too short to spend with folks you can't stand. We have surround sound in one conference room, a Nintendo Wii projecting on the wall in the other, and a kegerator on the 5th floor patiently waiting for Friday. But the real generator of fun in our company is the staff itself — give us lunch, a big table and an hour to kill and the laughs are guaranteed.
We embrace open source technologies and do-it-yourself philosophies. Our company politics are split pretty evenly between Mac/Windows/Linux users and Diet Coke/Mountain Dew/Cappucino drinkers. Commodore 64 users and YooHoo drinkers are welcomed, just be prepared for merciless ridicule.
